DESIGNER NOTES: This pattern was designed as a preemie blanket.
To make a full size baby afghan complete to rnds 22. DO NOT FASTEN OFF.
Repeat rnds 11-22 again. When edging the number of stitches between
points A,B,C, and D will have to be increased accordingly.

Materials:
Materials listed are for preemie pattern.
Increase accordingly for bigger blanket

pink - 3 ounces of worsted weight
white - 6 ounces of worsted weight
blue - 3 ounces of worsted weight

Crochet Hook: 4.5mm
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends.

Size:
17" x 20"

Abbreviations:
ch: chain
st(s): stitch(es) WS: wrong side
BLO: back loops only
FLO: front loops only
sl: slip
sc: single crochet
hdc: half double crochet

Instructions:
Center Strip:(See pic above)
Rnd 1:With pink ch 5; sl st to first st to form a ring. Ch 3
(counts as first hdc), 2 hdc in ring, ch 2, (3 hdc in ring,
ch 2) 3 times; join with sl st to top of ch-3; sl st to first ch-3 sp;
ch 2 (counts as first hdc of next row); turn. (4 ch-2 sps) (mark as RS)

We will now be working in rows.

R.2: 2 hdc in first ch sp, ch 1, 2 hdc in next ch sp, hdc in top of last hdc;
ch 3 ***(counts as first hdc + ch-1 sp), turn.
R 3: 3 hdc in next ch sp, ch 1, skip next 2 hdc, hdc in top
of ch 3, ch 3 ****(counts as ch-1 sp + hdc), turn.
R 4: repeat row 2
R 5: repeat row 3
R 6: repeat row 2
R.7: 3 hdc in next ch sp, ch 1, skip next 2 hdc, dc in top of ch 3,
fasten off.

We will now be working in rounds.

Rnd 8: With RS facing attach white in any corner ch-1 sp (see *** above); work
ch 2 (counts as first hdc); work (hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc) in same ch sp as
joining; ch 1; work (2 hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc) in next corner ch-1 sp
(see **** above); ch 1. skip side of next hdc and work (3 hdc, ch 1),
in next and each ch space along side of piece to next corner; work
(2 hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc) in corner ch sp ; ch 1; work (2 hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc)
in next corner ch-1 sp; ch 1. Work (3 hdc, ch 1) in each ch space along
side of piece to next corner; join to top of first ch-3 with a slip st.
Fasten off
Rnd 9: Attach blue with sl st in any corner ch-2 sp. Ch 2 (counts as
first hdc) (hdc,ch 2, 2 hdc) in same ch sp as joining; ch 1; *(work 3 dc,
ch 1) in next ch sp **; work (2 hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc) in next corner ch-1 sp;
ch 1.Work (3 hdc, ch 1) in each ch space along side of piece to
next corner; work (2 hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc) in corner ch sp ; ch 1; work
(2 hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc) in next corner ch-1 sp; ch 1.Work (3 hdc, ch 1)
in each ch space along side of piece to next corner; join to top of first ch-3 with a
slip st. Fasten off
Rnd 10: using white repeat rnd 9 making sure to repeat from * to ** as
many times as there are ch sps along shorter sides
Rnd 11: repeat round 10 using pink
Rnd 12: repeat round 10 using white
Rnd 13: repeat round 10 using blue
Rnd 14: repeat round 10 using white
Rnd 15: repeat round 10 using pink
Rnd 16: repeat round 10 using white
Rnd 17: repeat round 10 using blue
Rnd 18: repeat round 10 using white
Rnd 19: repeat round 10 using pink
Rnd 20: repeat round 10 using white
Rnd 21: repeat round 10 using blue
Rnd 22: repeat round 10 using white. Fasten off.

Edging:

(Using Fig 1 as a guide and see pic at top)
Attach pink with sl st in any corner sp; ch 1, sc
in same st as joining; work 2 sc in same ch sp.
From point A to point B work 42 sc evenly spaced ;
work 3 sc in next corner ch sp; work 51 sc evenly
spaced along side BC; work 3 sc in next corner sp;
work 42 sc evenly spaced on side CD; work 3 sc in
next corner ch sp; work 51 sc evenly spaced along
last side . Join with sl st to first st; DO NOT FASTEN OFF.

Using FLO sl st in each st around. Join with sl st to first st;
fasten off.
Working in BLO left from last rnd join white with sl st in any st. DO NOT FASTEN OFF.
Using both loops sl in first st, ch 1, *( sl st in next st, ch 1);
repeat from * around. Join with sl st to first st. Fasten off.
