Instructions :
Materials:
Sportweight cotton
Hook 2.75 mm conversion chart
Needle to weave in ends.
Abbreviations:
ch: chain
sl: slip
st: stitch
dc: double crochet
sc: single crochet
RS: right side
WS: wrong side
Special Stitches:
shell: (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc)
Instructions:
Ch 5; join with sl st to form a ring; ch 4(counts as dc + ch1), turn.
Row 1: work (dc, ch 1) twice; dc in ring; turn (3 spaces)(mark as RS row)
Row 2: ch 4 (counts as dc + ch 1); dc in first st, *ch 1, dc in next dc;
repeat from * across to last dc; ch 1, dc in top of last dc.Turn.(5 spaces)
Repeat row 2 until there are 65 spaces. (each row adds 2 spaces - 1 at beg
and one at end) ending with a WS row.
Last row: dc in each st and each sp across; fasten off.
Ties:

First tie:
With RS facing attach sportweight with sl st at point A in fig 1
Ch 56; dc in 4th ch from hook and dc in each st across; join with
sl st to to top of next st in row 1.
Second tie:
Edging:

Use fig 2 as a guide.
With RS facing join sportweight with sl st in first sp.
of side AB; * work shell in next sp; sl st in next sp; repeat
along side AB and side BC leaving side CA unworked. Fasten off.
TO MAKE AS A SHAWL:
Repeat row 2 until piece is large enough for a shawl.
Can be made to fit child or adult.
