Materials:
Small amounts of size 5 cotton (can use sport weight cotton)
Colors: red and white
Crochet Hook: 2.00 mm hook
Tapestry needle for sewing in ends

Gauge:
2.00 mm hook 4 st = 1"

Abbreviations:
ch: chain
st(s): stitch(es)
RS: right side
WS: wrong side
BLO: back loops only
FLO: front loops only
sl: slip
sc: single crochet
sc dec: single crochet decrease
tr: Treble (triple) crochet

Instructions:
Back: (use white)

We are now working in rows.

Row 1: using 2.00 mm hook ch 15, sc in second ch
from hook and sc in each ch across; ch 1, turn. (14 sts)(mark as RS)
Row 2: sc in each st across; ch 1, turn.
Row 3- 44: sc in each st across; ch 1, turn.
Row 45: sc in each st across, Fasten off.

Edging:

Use fig 1 as a guide
Rnd 1: Attach white with sl st in first side of side AB; work 3 sc in same st as
joining (makes first corner); sc in each st across side AB to last st; work 3 sc in
last st (makes second corner); work 35 sts evenly spaced along side BC; work 3 sc
in first st of side CD (makes third corner); sc in each st across side CD to last st; work
3 sc in last st of side CD (makes fourth corner) work 35 sts evenly spaced up last side
of piece. Join with sl st to first st; DO NOT FASTEN OFF; using FLO sl st in each st around.

Rnd 2: Attach red to center st of first corner; work 2 sc in same st as joining, sc in each
st around making sure to work 2 sc in each center corner st; join with sl st to first st; DO
NOT FASTEN OFF; using FLO ch 1, sl st in FLO of next st; *(ch 1, sl st in FLO of next st);
repeat from * around; ch 1, sl st to first st. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Hearts:
Make 3:
Using red and 2.00 mm hook ch 4; join with sl st to first st to form a ring; ch 3
(counts as first st); work 23 tr into ring; ch 3, sl st into ring to end. Fasten off.
Weave in all ends.

Attach hearts to right side of back using glue or you could sew them on as shown in pic.
