Instructions for Christmas Tree Dishcloth:

Materials for dishcloth:
1 ounce of worsted weight green
small amount of worsted weight white
hook: 4.5 mm Conversion chart

Abbreviations:
Sc: single crochet
Sl: sl
St(s): stitch (es)
Ch: Chain
Sp: space
sc dec: single crochet decrease
yo: yarn over BLO: back loops only
FLO: front loops only

Special Stitches:
sc dec: Draw up a loop in each of next 2 sts; yo and draw through all 3 loops on hook.

FLO/BLO:


Row 1: Using green ch 26; sc in second ch from hook and sc in each ch across; ch 1, turn. (25 sc)

Row 2: Work sc dec over first 2 sts, sc in each remaining st across; ch 1, turn. (24 sts))

Row 3: Work sc dec over first 2 sts, sc in each remaining st across; ch 1, turn. (23 sts))

Repeat rows 2 and 3 until there are only 3 sts left; yo and draw through all three sts. Secure and fasten off.)

Edging:
Rnd 1: Using green attach with sl st in any “corner”; work 3 sc in same st as joining; sc in each st around making sure to work 3 sc in each “corner”; join with sl st to top of first st.)

Rnd 2: Using FLO sl st in each st around; join with sl st to top of first st; fasten off.)

Rnd 3: Using white and BLO left from last rnd attach with a sl st in any center “corner” st; work 3 sc in same st as joining; sc in each st around making sure to work 3 sc in each “center” st of corners; join with sl st to top of first st; Using FLO sl st in each st around. Join with sl st to top of first st; Fasten off.)

Trunk:
Count the stitches on the bottommost edge of dishcloth; mark the center st.)

Fig 1:


We will be working these sts in the same sts as the bottommost part of the tree.

Row 1: Attach green with sl st 2 sts to the right of the center st; sc in same st as joining and sc in next 4 sts; ch 1, turn.

Row 2: sc in each st across; ch 1, turn

Row 3: sc in each st across; ch 1, turn.

Row 4: sc in each st across; fasten off.

Attach green with sl st in point “A” (use fig 1 as a guide), sc in each st around trunk from point “A” to Point “B” making sure to work 3 sc in each “corner”; fasten off.

Weave in all ends.

DESIGNERS NOTES:
POTHOLDER: Making 2 of these and attaching them together and adding a ring on the top for hanging makes a potholder.

COASTER: Make this same pattern using a 2.5mm hook and sportweight thread will make a coaster.
