Materials:
Worsted weight cotton - 4 balls (50 gr. ball)
hook: 4 mm Conversion chart
tapestry needle for weaving in ends

Abbreviations:
Ch: chain
Sc: single crochet
Sl: slip
FLO: Front loop only
BLO: back loop only
St: stitch
Inc: increase
Dec: decrease

Special Stitches:
Bump stitch: Insert hook in next st and pull up a loop, (YO and draw through 1 loop on hook) 3 times (creates a chain of 3 sts), YO and draw through both loops on hook (creates the "bump").

Increase and Decrease:
To increase: (inc) work 2 sc in st indicated.
To decrease: (dec) draw up a loop in each of next 2 sts; yo and draw through all 3 loops on hook.

Size: 24" x 5" (without handles)

Instructions:
(make 2)
Row 1: ch 4; sc in second ch from hook and sc in each st across; ch 1, turn. (3 sts) Mark as RS
Row 2: inc in first st, sc in next st; inc in last st; ch 1, turn. (5 sts)
Row 3: inc in first st, sc in next 3 sts; inc in last st; ch 1, turn. (7 sts)
Row 4: inc in first st, sc in next 5 sts; inc in last st; ch 1, turn. (9 sts)
Row 5: inc in first st, sc in next 7 sts; inc in last st; ch 1, turn. (11 sts)
Row 6: inc in first st, sc in next 9 sts; inc in last st; ch 1, turn. (13 sts)
Row 7: sc in first st, bump st in next st; *sc in next st, bump st in next st; repeat from * across to last st; sc in last s. Ch 1, turn.
Row 8: sc in each st across; ch 1, turn.
Row 9: sc in first 2 sts, bump st in next st, *sc in next st, bump st in next st; repeat from * across to last 2 sts, sc in last 2 sts; ch 1, turn.
Row 10: sc in each st across; ch 1, turn

Repeat rows 7-10 until the piece measures 22" ending with a WS row.

We will now be decreasing.
Row 1: dec using first 2 sts, sc in next 9 sts; dec using last 2 sts; ch 1, turn. (11 sts)
Row 2: dec using first 2 sts, sc in next 7 sts; dec using last 2 sts; ch 1, turn. (9 sts)
Row 3: dec using first 2 sts, sc in next 5 sts; dec using last 2 sts; ch 1, turn.(7 sts)
Row 4: dec using first 2 sts, sc in next 3 sts; dec using last 2 sts; ch 1, turn. (5 sts)
Row 5: dec using first 2 sts, sc in next st; dec using last 2 sts; ch 1, turn. (3 sts)
Row 6: sc in each st; fasten off.

With WS of both pieces facing each other and using fig 1 as a guide attach cotton with sl st at point A. Work 2 sc in same st as joining; sc in next st, work 2 sc in next st (point B); Sc in side of each row from point B to point C; work 2 sc in first st of side CD; sc in next st, work 2 sc in last st of side CD; sc in side of each row up side DA. Join with sl st to top of first st. Do not fasten off.
Using both loops sl st in each st around. Join with sl st to top of first st; fasten off.

Handles:
Attach cotton at point A ch 35, sl st to last st of side AB; ch 1, sl st in each ch back to point A; fasten off.
Repeat for other handle.
